Sevan Nişanyan is a prominent Turkish-Armenian writer, linguist, and scholar known for his linguistic works, advocacy for free speech, and controversial criticisms of Turkish policies, leading to imprisonment and exile in Greece before he later moved to Armenia. He's famous for his Etymological Dictionary of Turkish, restoring the village of Şirince, and running the Nişanyan Hotel, but fell foul of the Turkish government for his writings and building infractions, becoming a symbol of political defiance
