Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church "Virgin Mary" Lajos Kossuth Street 6 1606 Pette Kyosheta +35929884411 churcharmeniansofia@gmail.com https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1898207830493956&paipv=0&eav=AfafdNa16YcQ9hEJOdiAndJswL0WrojTLVPr3uZtbW7YEY2cW_2aFZh21NSSdH4rqLI&_rdr About us More than 90 years ago, the Armenian community in Sofia lost its old church, built in the 17th century. Between 1936 and 2022, Armenians in Sofia used a prayer hall in the Armenian Cultural House adapted for church services. For years, Sofia Armenians have been raising funds and seeking support for the construction of a new temple, and this idea has become a community cause. At the end of 2006, according to the project of architect Agop Karakashyan, the construction of the first Armenian cathedral "Holy Virgin" ("Surp Astvadzadzin") in Bulgaria began on a site designated by the Metropolitan Municipality in the center of the city. In the spring of 2022, the only Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church opened its doors in the capital. The temple was built entirely with donations, and the construction lasted almost 15 years. The project of the building is the work of the famous Bulgarian architect of Armenian origin, Agop Karakashyan, responding to the traditional architecture of Armenian temples, especially with its typical pointed domes, the main one of which reaches a height of 24 meters. At the same time, the building has a modernist look, with large windows that make it extremely bright and welcoming inside. The citizens of Sofia can be proud of the presence of such a unique building in the heart of the capital, which complements its appearance as an extremely tolerant and religiously diverse city - along with the large Bulgarian Eastern Orthodox churches, the Catholic cathedral, the synagogue, the Greek church, mosque and many others in the center of Sofia. • Armenian American Nurses Association  | Miatsir Main

Armenian American Nurses Association Elizabeth Zoryan, President; Kristine Oganian, President Elect PO Box 959 91226 Glendale, CA +18188390139 ArmenianNurses@gmail.com https://armeniannurse.org/ About us Over 20 years ago, following Armenia’s devastating earthquake of 1988, a group of visionary nurses in the Los Angeles area gathered to start an organization of Armenian nurses to be ready to respond to the call and assist the homeland. For over two decades members of the AANA have extended their services, time, and expertise to assist the community. They have collaborated with the members of the Armenian Medical Society of California and Armenian Dental Society of California and performed health-screening events in Armenian schools, screening students for lice, vision, dental health, and scoliosis. Moreover, they have assisted in community health fairs and offered services, consultation and education. They have staffed first aid booths in athletic and cultural events, taught CPR classes to teachers and scouts, educated school children about hygiene and various health related topics, and vaccinated the elderly by holding flu clinics in various church campuses and adult day care centers. AANA has partnered with the Office of Women’s Health and the Immunization Program Division of the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services to facilitate health delivery services for the community. It has also established collaborative efforts with the Armenian Relief Society. In addition to community involvement, AANA has also been active overseas, and is very proud to have sponsored the building of a brand new home for a village nurse in Haykavan, Karabagh. As the association has grown, it has also begun providing financial support to various organizations, including orphanages, nursing homes, and schools, as well as providing scholarships for nursing students. AANA is a tax-exempt non-profit organization and has approximately 90 members. The association holds monthly business meetings where activities are planned; members network, and attend continuing education topics. AANA is a member of the Armenian Medical International Committee and holds nursing workshops in the international world congresses. Previous Next
