The museum preserves and displays more than 8427 museum and historical objects, which represent the history of Gegharkunik region from the Stone Age to the present day. There are 6 halls where 2318 exhibits are displayed. The rest of the exhibits are kept in the museum funds. The archaeological section includes stone working tools, an ancient bow and anchor, bronze daggers and jewelry, the cuneiform inscription of the Urartu king Rusa I, the border pillar of the Armenian king Artashes I with an Aramaic inscription, a stone jar with the image of a ram and other values, the number of which reaches 600. The Artashisian border pillar, which was discovered in the Sarukhan area and handed over to the museum by the joint Armenian-Italian expedition, has its unique place among the exhibits.
