Khachaturian International Competition

Owing to its rapid growth and international recognition, the Khachaturian International Competition became a member of the Geneva-based World Federation of International Musical Competitions (WFIMC) in 2013. This is a prestigious musical family which hosts, among other reputable competitions, the Queen Elisabeth Competition, the Montreal International Music Competition and the Tchaikovsky International Competition. The annual international competition is implemented with the joint efforts by the Ministry of Culture of Armenia, Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory and “Aram Khachaturian-competition” Cultural Foundation. Headed since 2008 by the composer, Honored Artist and then Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Armenia to Russia Armen Smbatyan, the Board of Trustees of the foundation includes remarkable people of art and culture, including Tigran Mansuryan, Karen Khachaturian, Jonathan Freeman-Attwood, Pavel Kogan, Elizbieta Penderecka, Alexander Sokolov, Alexander Tchaikovsky, Mark Zilberquit, Mikhail Shvydkoy, Constantine Orbelian and other renowned figures.
