The collapse of the Soviet Union and Armenia's declaration of independence in 1991 were significant moments in the country's sporting development, as well as in its political history. The Federation organizes the Armenian Premier League, the Armenian First League, the Armenian Super Cup, the Armenian Independence Cup, and the Armenian Futsal Premier League. The Armenians in Munich are organized in two clubs, the Armenian Community in Munich e.V. and the non-profit Armenian Country Team in Bavaria e.V. The clubs are very closely intertwined and use the club premises together. We are open to European and especially German-speaking or German culture and are highly integrated into Germany. Around 60% of our more than 155 members have German citizenship, although in recent years many displaced persons and refugees from Islamic countries such as Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and many other countries, including Armenia, have found a home in Munich. The structure of our members is broad. These include long-established members, some of whom have lived in Munich for over 50 years, many young families with children, schoolchildren, students, freelancers, workers and pensioners. Our club premises are primarily a meeting place for members, their family members and friends. It is a venue for a variety of cultural encounters, such as lectures, folklore dances, singing performances, language courses, internal club events, Friday meetings, Sunday meetings, external cultural events, exhibitions in which everyone can take part. The Armenian Country Team in Bavaria e.V. is recognized as a non-profit organization, non-partisan and non-denominational. It does not pursue any party political or ideological goals. Its statutory purpose is primarily to cultivate the Armenian language, culture, history and customs, as well as cultural exchange and the promotion of relationships and coexistence between Armenians, Germans and other nationalities. This statutory purpose is realized in particular through language lessons, memorial days, seminars and lectures, concerts, exhibitions to present history and similar cultural events as well as general youth support in the sense of promoting identity and integrating young people within the framework of the “Child and Youth Welfare Act” of 1990.
